Day 9 - Buddy Walk

I think I had heard of the Buddy Walk sometime prior to these last 9 months.  Maybe thought it was related to the Special Olympics.  But just in case you hadn't yet heard, the Buddy Walk is an annual celebration, proclaiming Down syndrome awareness in the community.  Being our first year, we weren't exactly sure what to expect.  It was a great time!

Helping Mom get all the shirts sorted out and organized.
We had nearly 40 of our family and friends join us to make up Little E's Big Team.  There were lots of fun carnival games for the kids, face painting, a photobooth and even snacks from HyVee.  We gathered and chatted and wandered to see what was going on.  It was fun to see what everyone came up with for their t-shirts.  Of course Jacob's Star Wars theme won the favorite from the Rich boys.

In the grassy knoll we occupied, north of UNO's field, it appeared quite a few came out for a beautiful day.  And, wow!, once you turned the corner and saw the seemingly endless line of people streaming down and across Dodge street, it was simply amazing!  The only bad part was not having enough time to see all of our DS friends.  We saw a few here and there or their team shirt being sported.  Mom definitely needs a recap moment!

In just a couple years the line of giggling girls will crowd the whole path!

A huge thank you to everyone who donated towards Little E's Big Team and / or came out and walked with us.  We had a great time and feel very loved!
