Cookies, Cookies, Cookies

Every year as long as I can remember, one of the coveted gifts of the season came from Aunt Mavis - a plate of sugar cookies.  One santa, tree and gingerbread person individually bagged for each person in the house.  And they were perfectly decorated.  Of course delicious too.

Jen happened to get the secret recipe for a wedding gift and shared it.  We've been cranking out cookies ever since (well at least once a year!).  Just the thought of sugar cookies makes me tired, but once you have one melting in your mouth, it's so worth it!

Keira was my cookie assistant this year.  (If I get her trained early, the cookies will be even easier!)  She carefully selected which cookie cutters would be used and helped to flour, roll, cut, bake and cool them all.  For the sake of the camera, we didn't take pics of the messy process.

Keira helped mix the icing, selecting flavors and colors to mix.  Her job was to sprinkle after the cookies were iced.  I like doing arts and crafts, I'm just not that great at it.  So having kiddos help out is a good thing - no one has to know which ones the grown up did!

 Daddy did finally come to our relief and finish up the penguins so we could rest a bit.  Whew, that was plenty of cookies!

Ha!  Lexi thinks she'll help too - by eating them!
