RockStar Party

We decided to start something new for birthdays this year.  Rather than friends bringing gifts we are going to let the kids choose where they would like to make donations to and ask their guests to consider donating rather than buying presents.  This year, Keira chose Hope for Heidi.  This family has jumped into the world of Down syndrome and is planning to adopt a little one within the next year or so.

We were thrilled with the outcome of our efforts.  The girls that came were very receptive to our new idea and generous too.  Keira collected $300 at the party and others gave online to help bring this sweet little girl home to Nebraska.  International adoption is quite expensive, so it may seem like such a little amount compared to what they need, but I know the family appreciates everything that is done.  Maybe, just maybe, Heidi will be able to join our party next year!
My co-worker Julie made a cake based off of the invitations Keira picked.  Daddy had an oops moment in the car, but luckily caught the cake before it was a total disaster.

Silly sister, decided she wanted to have "cheese cake" - and ate it!
