Today marks our country's birthday and we are very thankful for the sacrifices that so many have made and are making for our freedom. We started our day off just hanging out with our own little family. A bit of time to play and enjoy the new house - and make marks on the driveway with snakes etc. Even got a short bike ride in.
We headed north for the Rich family gathering taking the scenic route since the interstate is closed due to flooding. Wow! At one point - going from NE to IA - it seemed like the river was 2+ miles wide because of all the flooding. I couldn't stop to get a picture, but there was a sign seemingly in the middle of a lake that said "Road Closed". Several houses looked like they were on an island and were just surrounded by floodwaters.
The girls headed over to the park with Courtney, Kiersten and Karagin where I used to play with Jen as a kid - probably on some of the same equipment! The bugs were so bad, even with bug spray on, I had enough and came home with Eisley.
Aunt Lu brought a yummy craft. The girls made firecrackers with hoho's, a twizzler for the fuse and icing gel to decorate. Eisley tried a taste, but wasn't too impressed, meanwhile, Miss Amaiah polished off the whole thing!
We were busy with lots of things to do - pool time, water guns, horseshoes, ladderball, jump rope and bubbles to name a few. The boys had a great firework show that we stayed to enjoy.
