Preschool & Propping

Our kids have never been to preschool, it's just something that we have tackled at home as part of our daily routine.  Mostly it was just about the schedule of school and work and not having the kids in a center that offers preschool.  Now that the two older kids are off to school, I have a little more time on my days off to spend with Lexi.  She has started saying the color of things, just not very accurately, so I thought it would be a good time for her to get those straightened out.  We got out the jumbo coloring book of Pooh Bear and worked together.  Eisley wanted in on the action too.

The rest of my "free time" is spent working with Eisley.  A couple weeks ago she started doing private PT.  It has been going really well and she is making great progress.  Just prior to her starting PT I commented that it will likely be several more months before she could sit up on her own.  Just look at what she's doing!

PT refers to this as prop sitting - propping herself up with her arms, but it's step 1.  It's all about the abs and obliques - toning the core - to get her sitting up pretty.  She doesn't really like the "horse rides" with motion to the sides, but it helps to get those middle muscles kicking in and working.  As if we didn't already know, Miss Eisley is proving to us again that she is one tough cookie and will be going at her own rate, often beyond our expectations.
