Thumb Sucker - No More!

With the exception of Eisley, all my kids have sucked their thumb or fingers.  Tristan was a thumb guy.  He managed to break his arm at 9 months of age and had a cast for 2 weeks.  He was also to stubborn to use his other thumb.  That quick stint with the cast stopped his habit.  Keira preferred her first two fingers.  We managed to get her down to bedtime only and the rest she did on her own.

Lexi has been a thumb sucker since the very beginning. She's had a callous on her thumb for a couple years.  Over the last few months we've seen her front teeth coming forward.  After lots of prompting, hot sauce and incentives, we took a step further - a thumb guard.  The guard itself is pretty thick and durable plastic, yet very flexible. The tip of the thumb is open, so you can't get suction on it.  Every night a new bracelet secures it in place and gets cut off in the morning.

We talked it up and Lexi says she's ready to quit.  That's Step 1, admitting you have a problem:)    Here she is with the first fitting, ready to take on the challenge:
After the reality of it all sinks in:
We've got high hopes for the guard.  I'm sure Little Houdini may find a way to get herself out of it, but hopefully this will be enough to help her kick the habit!
