I told Lexi we had to take Eisley to the hospital today, but she informed me it wasn't a hospital, it was school - which is probably more like it anyway. We started off our week at Munroe-Meyer with evaluations on how Eisley does with eating. I fed her the way we do at home, the way the staff instructed me to and the staff have fed her. They are now conducting assessments with different treatments to see if she responds differently to a variety of methods like reprimand, being able to play with toys/singing, just food or escape (where the spoon goes away if she turns her head).
Everything the staff does is based off of data, so they take lots of it, all the time. They have showed me charts on how soon Eisley takes a bite within the first 5 seconds of it being presented, how much spillage she has, quantity of food taken, number of inappropriate behaviors and many others. Since they take so much data, it requires extra people - she has a primary therapist - Jason, an assistant - Molly, Suzanne and Becca who oversee her case, and Dr Piazza who runs the whole show. Lots of others help out with making the food, feeding or taking data so she is not used to just one person.

Late last week Eisley started spitting up again after her feedings, much like she used to several months ago. It may just be a flu bug, which has made it's way through our house, but may be some reflux too. So to be safe we've watered down her tubefeedings with pedialyte and started back on the prilosec. The staff will start on Eisley's liquid assessements next week when she's back on full strength feedings.
Eisley has a schedule that MMI follows which includes time for breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner all between the hours of 9-5. During her breaks she gets to play in one of several playrooms or outside on the playground. She has a long break built into the afternoon for naptime along with her own little room to sleep in.

Holy guacamole, that is intense! I never realized the large team of people they would have to study Eisley. I'm glad they are gathering so much information. Hopefully all the data will be helpful to you and Sean with feeding her and getting her to do it better and better.
Keep us updated!
